Two Vietnamese films including Chang trai nam ay (Dandelion) and Dap canh giua khong trung (Flapping in the middle of nowhere) will be screened at the 2015 Luang Prabang Film Festival (LPFF), which starts on December 7 in Laos.
"Chang trai nam ay" is the work of director Nguyen Quang Huy. Actor Son Tung M-TP plays a singer with cancer. This role won the 21 year-old male singer the Golden Kite Award in the category of Promising Young Actor. The work also marks the second time that director Huy has been invited to LPFF after his film Than tuong (Idol) was well received last year.
Dap canh giua khong trung is about a girl played by Thuy Anh, pregnant in adolescence. The film by director Nguyen Hong Diep has been screened at several movie festivals across the world.
LPFF is an annual event to be held in Laos. It aims to honour the best films in Southeast Asia, provide a unique forum for professional filmmakers and audiences, as well as promote the development of the regional film industry.
This year, the organisers selected 28 films of the countries in the region to be screened during the festival.
