General Secretary To Lam reiterated the view when delivering a speech at the grand ceremony celebrating the special occasion that took place at Hanoi’s Ba Dinh Square, where President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence on September 2, 1945, proclaiming the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.
In a solemn tribute, Lam recalled the historic moment when President Ho Chi Minh proclaimed independence in 1945, opening a new era of freedom and national sovereignty.
He honored President Ho Chi Minh, generations of revolutionary leaders, heroic mothers, veterans, martyrs and millions of compatriots who sacrificed for independence, unity and the people’s happiness.
He also expressed gratitude to workers, farmers, intellectuals, artists, youth, women, overseas Vietnamese and international friends who supported Vietnam’s just cause over the past eight decades.
Lam reaffirmed that all of Vietnam’s victories are inseparable from the leadership of the Communist Party and President Ho Chi Minh’s ideology.
He pledged that the Party will remain steadfast in safeguarding independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity while pursuing the goal of building a strong, prosperous and happy Vietnam by 2045.
He called on all Vietnamese at home and abroad to unite, nurture peace, uphold creativity and resilience, and turn national aspirations into reality. Stressing a policy of friendship and respect for international law, he affirmed that Vietnam will never yield to any attempt to infringe on its independence or territorial sovereignty.
The general secretary once again bowed in reverence to President Ho Chi Minh and fallen heroes, declaring the enduring message: “Long live the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. Eternal glory to the Communist Party of Vietnam. President Ho Chi Minh lives forever in our cause. Everlasting glory belongs to the People.”
