Vietnamese Poetry Day to take place in Hanoi

Artistic groups from the northern and central regions will bring to Poetry Day special repertoires reflecting their cultural beauties and customs.

The 21st Vietnamese Poetry Day is slated to take place at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel in Hanoi on February 5, the fifteen day of the first lunar month.

Chairman of the Vietnam Writers' Association (VWA) Nguyen Quang Thieu said that this year's Poetry Day is themed "New Rhythm" to convey a positive message and bring Vietnamese culture and art closer to the public.

"When our country has overcome the Covid-19 pandemic, normal life resumes, with a new rhythm, momentum and belief, towards a future full of hope for good things. After a three-year hiatus, the Vietnamese Poetry Day officially returns in a flexible manner to make sure it adapts to the new norma," Thieu said.

Over the past 10 years, the Poetry Day has attracted massive participation with higher quality works, he noted.

He added that the event will open with a recital of President Ho Chi Minh's poem "Nguyen Tieu" (the fifth day of the first lunar month) by a meritorious artist.

The remarkable occasion will also be conducive to discussing the works of great authors in history such as Nguyen Du, Ho Chi Minh, Nguyen Binh, Dong Ho, and others.

In addition, artistic groups from the northern and central regions will bring to the Poetry Day special repertoires reflecting their cultural beauties and customs.

The Vietnamese Poetry Day is held annually on the 15th day of the first lunar month across the country, the same day that Ho Chi Minh wrote the poem "Nguyen Tieu" in 1948.
