The result reaffirms Vietnam’s quality of high school education and shows the right direction in selecting and training gifted students.

The three gold medals were conferred to Tran Xuan Tung (Hanoi - Amsterdam Gifted High School), Nguyen Xuan Ung (National Science Gifted High School of the Hanoi National University) and Nguyen Khanh Linh (Lam Son Gifted High School, Thanh Hoa province). Khanh Linh also won a special award for the girl with the highest Olympic achievement.

The two silver medals were awarded to Le Viet Hoang (Bien Hoa High School, Ha Nam province) and Trinh Duy Hieu (Bac Giang Gifted High School, Bac Giang province), announced the MoET today.

Given these achievements, Vietnam came fourth among 78 countries and territories participating the contest.

China and South Korea lead the contest with five gold medals each, followed by Russia with four gold medals.

The 50th International Physics Olympiad is held in Israel from July 7 to 15, with the participation of 360 students.

"The result reaffirms Vietnam’s quality of high school education and shows the right direction in selecting and training gifted students," said a representative from the Education Quality Assurance Department.

The MoET will give the Vietnamese team a warm welcome at Noi Bai international airport upon their return on July 16.
