Viettel Money added to national public service portal, expanding cashless government payments
Vietnam is expanding cashless public services as Viettel Money joins the National Public Service Portal, helping streamline administrative processing for both citizens and government agencies nationwide.
THE HANOI TIMES — Viettel Money has become an official payment channel on the National Public Service Portal, allowing citizens to pay a wide range of administrative fees and charges online through one system.

Users can now pay fees, charges, taxes, insurance contributions and other financial obligations required during public service procedures directly through Viettel Money.
The integration also covers administrative fines, land- and asset-related taxes and registration fees, electricity bills and advance court fees, widening the scope of cashless public services.
Each Viettel Money transaction appears on the portal and links directly to a specific application or case code.
This linkage allows users to track dossier status and retrieve payment records at any time, reducing confusion and processing errors.
The move comes as Vietnam accelerates the digitalization of administrative services toward a fully integrated, end-to-end model.
Citizens can now submit applications, monitor progress and complete payments within a single platform, rather than switching systems or visiting offices.
The approach aligns with government efforts to streamline electronic administrative procedures, cut costs and save time for citizens and businesses.
Expanding payment options on the portal marks a key step in improving user experience and boosting adoption of online public services.
Bank accounts and established electronic payment channels remain the most widely used methods on the portal.
Enterprise representatives say adding digital wallets such as Viettel Money helps serve users without bank accounts and those in rural or remote areas.
From the user perspective, paying directly on the public service system reduces intermediate steps and ensures obligations are recorded accurately and promptly.
Once payment is completed, dossiers continue processing on the same platform, limiting delays tied to manual reconciliation.
For government agencies, payment data linked directly to electronic dossiers simplifies reconciliation and reporting while strengthening transparency and oversight.
This integrated data flow supports efforts by local authorities to standardize digital public service procedures and promote cashless payments under national policy goals.
According to Viettel Money, the integration further expands its role in Vietnam’s digital public service ecosystem.
Before this launch, the platform already supported payments through the iHaNoi digital citizen application, account linking for social welfare disbursements via VNeID and online payments for administrative procedures nationwide.
As of April 2025, Viettel Money had nearly 30 million users nationwide, ranking among Vietnam’s largest digital financial service platforms.
The platform offers more than 350 services, including payments, transfers, insurance, savings and other financial products.
Through these efforts, Viettel Money aims to support national objectives on science, technology, innovation and digital transformation.
