VinFast cooperates with Petrolimex to establish service centers for EV

The deal is expected to raise VinFast’s service stations across the country to 10,000, and then to 30,000 – 50,000 by 2020.

Vietnam’s largest privately-run conglomerate Vingroup on November 8 signed a memorandum of understanding with Petrolimex, the country’s largest petroleum distributor, to establish service centers for its vehicle-making arm nationwide, said the group in a statement.

The deal is expected to increase VinFast’s service stations across the country to 10,000, and then  to 30,000 – 50,000 by 2020.

Following the agreement, VinFast will deploy its service centers, including charging, battery leasing and maintenance stations for both electric cars and scooters at Petrolimex’s service stations.

The two sides also agreed on investing in roadside rest stops and convenience stores and cooperating in non-cash payment, aiming to provide services for VinFast’s customers and others.

On October 25, VinFast signed a similar deal with PetroVietnam Oil (PV Oil), the second largest petroleum retailer in the country.

PV Oil and Petrolimex have a combined number of 3,600 gas stations and 7,000 branches nationwide, which are the foundation for VinFast to develop a comprehensive ecosystem for its electric vehicles, stated Vingroup.

Nguyen Viet Quang, vice chairman and CEO of Vingroup, said the introduction of these services centers is expected to facilitate the development of Vietnam’s transportation network and offer better convenience to customers.

VinFast is scheduled to launch its smart electronic scooter Klara in November this year, and two car models LUX A2.0 and LUX SA2.0 in 2019.
