World famous basketball tournament American National Basketball Association (NBA) will be telecast live in Vietnam for three seasons starting from this year.
The decision was made to meet people’s demands, according to representatives of the Vietnam Cable Television (VTVcab) on September 28 .
VTVcab officially owns sole rights of broadcasting the event following talks with its partners. With this agreement, VTVcab is the first and only pay television company to air live close to 200 matches every season, comprising 144 qualifying matches, up to 34 play-offs, up to seven Conference Finals and all games of the NBA Final, as well as the NBA All-Star, NBA Action and NBA Daily programmes.
The NBA is the leading men’s professional basketball league in North America and is widely considered to be the premier men’s professional basketball league in the world.
It has lured world-class players such as Stephen Curry, LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony.
NBA has been introduced in 215 countries and territories in the world. From this year, the tournament can be watched on Th e thao TV, The thao TV HD and Th e thao tin tuc HD, which are channels of VTVcab. Basketball lovers can also watch the matches and their favourite players on other media, such as VTVcab ON (on.vtvcab.vn) and VTVplay (www.vtvplay.vn).
In 2015, the tournament recorded more than one billion likes and viewers from across the world.
Previously, VTVcab brought to Vietnam the UEFA Champions League for the 2016-2018, period, the UEFA Europa League and the English Premier League, apart from several local and international competitions in Vietnam.
