The past week had the lowest number of new infections in the past two months.
The total number of new Covid-19 cases in the past week (from October 1 to 9) was over 6,000 cases, a sharp decrease compared to the previous week. This week had the lowest number of new infections in the past two months.
Between August and September, the average number of new cases per week ranged from more than 13,000 to 18,000 or nearly 2,000 - 3,000 cases per day.

Hanoi saw a decrease in Covid-19 caseload on October 9, and Vietnam logged an additional 371 new infections, also a slight downtrend, according to the Ministry of Health.
Nearly 150 patients fully recovered from the disease on the day, lifting the total number of recoveries to over 10.5 million. Meanwhile, there are 70 patients needing breathing support.
The fatality toll was 43,154, accounting for 0.4% of the total infections; one death from Covid-19 was reported in Hanoi.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, Vietnam has recorded more than 11 million cases, ranking 13th out of 230 countries and territories and 138th in the number of deaths per million people.
As of October 10, more than 260 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines have been administered in the country; of these, the number of doses injected for persons 18 years of age and older exceeds 220 million.
The number of doses for children aged 12 to 17 and 5 to 11 is almost 23 million and about 17 million, respectively.
