Hanoi Ancient Beauty 2019 – Subsidy Period
“Hanoi Ancient Beauty 2019” is an annual social event that recreates the tradition cultural atmosphere of the Lunar New Year holiday.
This year event takes the theme of the “Subsidy Period” with a vast range of attractive activities throughout the two days such as recreating stores in the Subsidy Period, old decoration of Hanoi house, Hang Luoc flower market, the Old City Gate – O Quan Chuong; experiencing folk games, cuisines from all regions, traditional vegan food as well as significant performance arts.
Especially, there will be the annual banh chung (sticky rice cake) wrapping activity, which draws great attention of the event participants. Banh chung is not only a dish of Vietnamese special holidays but also a significant symbol of the Vietnamese traditional culture. Although it is only a type of cake, it carries profound value of solidarity, national pride and the color of Life: the green leaves (Wood), the pink meat fillings (Fire), the yellow mung bean fillings (Earth), and the white sticky rice (Metal).
Maximum 50 registrations per turn. Each registration includes one banh chung, which will be cooked and given out on the following day.
First held in 2017, “Hanoi Ancient Beauty” has become an anticipated event when Tet holiday is approaching due to its humanity values. This is the occasion for the bond of family and friends, for cultural exchange, for the preservation and spread of traditional values towards individuals, especially the young generation and international friends.

Solo Guitar Performance by Tran Tuan An
A champion of numerous international music awards, Tran Tuan An is one of the “genius guitarists of Vietnam” (Austin Classic Guitar). He has been invited to perform at major concert halls in North America and in Asia, alongside other world-class artists. Tuan An and his guitar, designed by luthier Stephan Connor, promise to bring to L’Espace stage a special night of classical music.
