Which is Vietnam’s fastest mobile operator?

Vietnam ranks 56th in the world for mobile speeds, according to Speedtest Global Index Market Analyses from Ookla.

Vinaphone was Vietnam’s fastest mobile operator during the first quarter of this year, reaching a median mobile download speed of 42.43 Mbps, faster than Viettel (40.61 Mbps) and Mobifone (29.91 Mbps).

These results were released in the Q1’s Speedtest Global Index Market Analyses from Ookla, specializing in fixed broadband and mobile network testing applications, data, and analysis.

In terms of mobile devices, Apple’s iPhone 13 Pro had the fastest average download speed among popular devices in Vietnam at 70.91 Mbps during Q1 2022.

Ho Chi Minh City showed the fastest median download speed over fixed broadband among Vietnam's most populous cities during the first quarter of 22 at 75.66 Mbps, followed by major cities of Danang, Cantho, Hanoi and Haiphong.

According to the Speedtest report, Vietnam ranked 56th in the world for mobile speeds, dropping from 50th in February and 45th in January, and 49th in terms of fixed broadband speeds in March, largely because of broken undersea cable routes. On April 15, the Asia Pacific Gateway (APG) submarine cable route had a problem, leading to slower speed of international internet connection.

Last month, Vietnam had a download speed of 33.90 Mbps and upload of 16.59 Mbps.

Among the ranked countries, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Norway continued to lead the classification in terms of mobile internet speed in March. South Korea lost third place to Qatar when its download speed dropped slightly to 117.95 Mbps.
