Winners of “Vietnamese Grammys” announced

The winners of the 2017 Devotion Music Awards were announced and honoured at a ceremony held in Ho Chi Minh City.
Musician Khac Hung was honoured with the ‘Musician of the Year’ and the ‘Producer of the Year’ awards.

The music video titled “Bong bong bang bang” composed by Only C Nguyen Phuc Thien and performed by 365 Daband won the ‘Best Music Video’ award. The song was a soundtrack in the blockbuster ‘Tam Cam- Chuyen Chua Ke’ (Tam Cam- The Untold Story) which was honoured with the Silver Golden Kite Award in 2016.
The song “Ong ba anh” (My Grandparents) composed and performed by Le Thien Hieu, with its sweet melody and simple lyrics reminiscent of images of the country in the 1980s and 1990s of the 20th century, received the ‘Song of the Year’ award.
The ‘New Artist of the Year’ title went to Hoang Rob (born in 1991) who has been considered as a violin ‘phenomenon’ in contemporary Vietnamese music. “Ban nguyen” (To the Core), the largest project of singer Tran Thu Ha with powerful and unique rock songs, was named the ‘Album of the Year’.
The ‘Music Programme of the Year’ award was given to ‘Sing My Song’, a TV reality programme aiming to find talented artists who can not only compose but also sing. The show “Doi ban tay thap lua” (Fire Hands) by rock band Buc Tuong (The Wall) and its leader, late musician and singer Tran Lap, won the ‘Live Show of the Year’ title.
During the awards ceremony, the audience were treated to a unique musical performances from Tung Duong, Ho Ngoc Ha, Noo Phuoc Thinh, Dong Nhi and Soobin Hoang Son.
This year’s awards, launched by the Vietnam News Agency’s Sport and Culture newspaper, were chosen by nearly 100 art and culture journalists around the country.
