The first round-table economic workshop seeking cooperation on trade, investment and tourism between the two countries took place in La Valletta, capital of Malta on May 5.
Lying strategically on a maritime route linking Asia, the Middle East, North Africa and Europe, Malta is regarded as a gateway for Vietnamese goods once Vietnam and the Europe Union (EU) sign a free trade agreement in the coming time, said Ambassador to Italy and Malta Nguyen Hoang Long.
He also highlighted their fine relations in the past as a firm foundation for future broader ties in trade, investment, tourism, and education. He voiced hope that the Mediterranean nation will make it easier for Vietnam to open financial and banking establishments there on the back of its advantageous legal and taxation system.
Commercial Counsellor Bui Vuong Anh spoke highly of Malta’s extensive expertise in navigation, logistics, foreign trade, finance - banking, and tourism services.
