Young athletes vie at Southeast Asia’s gymnastics champs
About 100 athletes from four Southeast Asian countries are showing off their gymnastic skills at the 2016 SEAGZone Artistic Junior & Age Groups Championships in Hanoi.
The event kicked off at Quan Ngua Sports Palace on August 26.
The athletes, aged between 9 and 15, include 16 gymnasts from Singapore, eight from Malaysia and six from the Philippines. The remaining are from host Vietnam.

They compete in such events as men’s and women’s group, individual all-round and freestyle; men’s pommel horse, rings, vault, parallel bars and horizontal bar; along with women’s vault, uneven bars and balance beam.
On the first day of the championships, Vietnam won four gold medals in men’s and women’s group and all-round events.
The tourney, organised by the Vietnam Gymnastics Federation and Hanoi’s Department of Culture and Sports, will last through August 28.
