3D exhibition evokes spirit of Capital Liberation Day

Visitors can immerse themselves in the liberation and takeover of the capital in 1954 at the Hanoi Flag Tower exhibition using mixed reality technology.

Thanks to mixed reality technology, visitors can join the army as it marches into Hanoi at the Hanoi Flag Tower interactive exhibition, which opened in Hanoi on 9 October to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the liberation of the capital.

This experience recreates 10 key milestones in the liberation and capture of the capital in October 1954.

Visitors will be able to view 3D images of Hanoi through the use of augmented reality (AR) glasses.

3D images of Hoan Kiem Lake, Temple of Literature, One Pillar Pagoda, Hanoi Flag Tower, Long Bien Bridge, Hanoi Opera House, five gates, and other landmarks of the capital city were captured using a device with 2 integrated 50Mp cameras.

In addition, Nhan Dan Newspaper has launched a project called "Each person, a piece of the puzzle", where people send in personal photos to be assembled into a large image of the Hanoi Flag Tower, which will be published on October 10.

Tran Sy Thanh, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee, praised Nhan Dan Newspaper's initiative, saying that Nhan Dan Newspaper's latest products were "very admirable".

"The exhibition proved that Nhan Dan Newspaper always respects the history, sacrifices, and contributions of many previous generations, and uses history as a fulcrum for the future. Nhan Dan Newspaper anticipates readers' trends by using modern technology to create new experiences for exhibition visitors," Thanh said.

"In celebration of the 70th anniversary of the liberation of the capital, we have launched a special dissemination campaign with elaborate, methodical, and thorough preparation for nearly half a year, starting with the launch of the In-depth Knowledge of Hanoi website," said Le Quoc Minh, editor-in-chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper.

The website provides information, memories, and emotions about the atmosphere of October 10, 1954; the cultural and historical values of a thousand years of civilization, and the vision of the future development of the capital.

The highlight of the campaign is the special edition containing a page about the Hanoi Flag Tower and a page of cut-and-paste models. Readers can cut and paste the printed newspaper page into a model of the Hanoi Flag Tower and interact with the model through 3 QR codes. Each QR code offers additional content and links to other projects in the Nhan Dan Newspaper ecosystem.

From  October 10, readers will also be given a free copy of the special edition "Hanoi Flag Tower" at Nhan Dan Newspaper's headquarters and offices in 63 cities and provinces nationwide.

"We are aware of the responsibility of the leading newspaper of the Vietnamese revolutionary press in disseminating important events in the country. The products are Nhan Dan Newspaper's efforts in digital transformation, combining print journalism with technology platforms to create new experiences for readers, especially young people," said Le Quoc Minh.

The interactive exhibition Hanoi Flag Tower will be open to visitors at the headquarters of Nhan Dan Newspaper, 71 Hang Trong Street, Hanoi from now until October 13.
