A look at nearly complete modern ring road in Hanoi

The contractor is making the best effort to finalize Hanoi's modern ring road and put the viaduct into operation by October 10 to celebrate the 1010th anniversary of Thang Long - Hanoi.

Construction of Mai Dich - Nam Thang Long viaduct, which is a section of Hanoi’s ring road 3, is over 90% complete, Kinh Te & Do Thi reported.

The construction of the Mai Dich - Nam Thang Long section kicked off in May 2018. Works on the road connecting with Thang Long bridge are expected to end in next month and put into operation by October 10 to celebrate the 1010th anniversary of Thang Long - Hanoi.

This road section will complete the beltway, making it a closed circle, contributing to reducing congestion on roads with a large volume of traffic such as Pham Van Dong, Hoang Quoc Viet, Nguyen Hoang Ton, among others.

Besides, the elevated ring road plays a key role in connecting Hanoi’s downtown with Noi Bai International Airport and northern provinces.

The Mai Dich - Nam Thang Long viaduct project has a total length of 5.367 km with four lanes, each lane is 3.75 m wide to allow speed of up to 100 kilometers per hour.

The total length of Mai Dich - Nam Thang Long viaduct including the ramps is more than 5km long, the elevated section is nearly 4.6km long.

The total investment is over VND5,300 billion (US$228.9 million). The project was funded with ODA loans from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and local reciprocal capital.

The following is a bird’s eye view of Hanoi's modern ring road after two years of construction:

After nearly two years, the work items have been almost completed, the elevated Ring Road 3 is taking shape.
Workers have been rushed to execute the remaining items of the work.
Located in districts of Cau Giay and Bac Tu Liem, the route connects Hanoi’s downtown to Noi Bai International Airport.
The project also connects major industrial parks in Hanoi and links the northern and northeast provinces with the southern provinces.
Workers are actively making the best efforts on the project site.
Trees have been planted and grown well.
This is one of the key traffic works, making an important contribution to changing the urban profile and transport infrastructure in Hanoi.
