A quieter Hanoi on the first day of Lunar New Year

On the first morning of the Tet, Lunar New Year, holiday, Hanoi was very quiet.

On the first morning of Tet, Lunar New Year, holiday, Hanoi’s noisy life has been replaced with tranquility. It’s nice to be in Hanoi during this time as it is amazing to see how Hanoi suddenly becomes very quitet and clean on the first day of Lunar New Year. Almost no one on the streets in the morning.

On the corner of a street in the Hanoi Old Quarter, there are no noisy scenes of usual city life, the silence is only broken occasionally by the sound of some vendors. But, you can also see a few people ride bicycles around Hoan Kiem Lake as they enjoy the early morning air.
Peach flowers blossom in a bright pink flourish for spring. And none of the usual crowded and noisy scenes of trade at Dong Xuan market.  Most shops and restaurants were closed, their garage style doors shut and locked. Now there is room to walk on the sidewalks since they were no longer being used by motorbikes as a parking lot.
You can see a small number of Vietnamese people dressed up and heading off to family and friend’s houses, but you mostly see foreign tourists wandering the empty streets of Hanoi.
