AEON hopes to have four shopping centers in operation by 2026, he said at a meeting with Hanoi Mayor Tran Sy Thanh.

AEON Mall Vietnam currently operates two shopping centers in Hanoi's Long Bien and Ha Dong districts. The company and municipal authorities have agreed to build more in other districts, such as Hoang Mai and Bac Tu Liem, Tetsuyuki said.

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan, the director said the Japanese company broke ground for the construction of AEON Mall Hue in February 2023, and the project is expected to be completed next year.

Other AEON malls will be built in the central coast city of Danang and Dong Nai and Thanh Hoa provinces, he added.

The Japanese executive said that some of the projects are already underway, while others have problems regarding location and implementation.

He said he hoped the Hanoi authorities would continue to provide support so that the projects could be realized soon.

Tran Sy Thanh, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee, appreciated that AEON Mall Vietnam had brought high-quality products and services to the local people and boosted the city's retail sector.

He also welcomed the company's efforts to strengthen and expand its retail network in Hanoi and Vietnam.

Chairman Thanh affirmed that Hanoi authorities would continue to stand by AEON Mall Vietnam and work to solve the problems faced by the Japanese company.

The Mayor of Hanoi also advised several solutions for AEON Mall Vietnam, such as changing the location of its new projects.

"The future development of the Japanese company must be in line with the urban development plan that Hanoi is working on," he noted.
