John Rockhold has been elected as the new 2022 National Chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham Vietnam), succeeding Bay Global Strategies’ Virginia Foote who held the post in 2020 and 2021, according to the latest announcement of AmCham Hanoi.

Rockhold said that he looks forward to working with AmCham members to further foster and deepen economic, social, and business ties between Vietnam and the US.
“It is with great humility that I take on this position to strengthen AmCham as the voice of American businesses in Vietnam in order to create a competitive and sustainable business climate for companies and investors here,” he added and hoped: “I look forward to working with my AmCham colleagues to ensure the organization’s ongoing success.”
Rockhold has been living and working in Vietnam since 1992 and serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Chan May LNG JSC to implement climate change projects.
Rockhold also serves as Co-Chair of AmCham’s Energy Committee and as Chairman of the Vietnam Business Forum Power and Energy Working Group.
At a meeting of the AmCham Hanoi Board of Governors on January 2, the board also selected Gaurav Sharma (BIDV-MetLife) and Virginia Foote (Bay Global Strategies) as Vice Chairs, Ha Thu Thanh (Deloitte) as Treasurer, and Michael DiGregorio (The Asia Foundation) as Chapter Secretary.
AmCham and its member companies are optimistic about prospects for economic reopening, recovery, and rebound in Vietnam.
“We remain committed to ensuring that business is not disrupted any more than necessary during the Covid period,” AmCham said. “We will work with our partners in the government and private sector to promote resilient and sustainable growth in Vietnam so that new opportunities for the future are realized.”
Founded in 1994, AmCham Hanoi is a non-profit organization whose primary mission is to increase trade and investment between the US and Vietnam. AmCham members account for billions of dollars in foreign investment, tens of thousands of direct employees, hundreds of thousands of indirect employees, and a significant share of Vietnam’s exports and tax revenues.
