American and Vietnamese musicians to entertain Hanoians

American cellist Bryan Charles Wilson will join Vietnamese artists in a special concert marking the 10th anniversary of the US-Vietnam Comprehensive Partnership.

The American Center Hanoi will host the 10th Anniversary Culture Show to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the US-Vietnam Comprehensive Partnership.

The show will feature performances by cellist Bryan Charles Wilson, dan bau (monochord) player Ngo Tra My, dan tranh (string zither) player Pham Tra My, and musician Tri Minh.

Wilson will take the audience on a musical journey, beginning with his new album, Tri Am (Understanding), in which he skillfully reimagines Vietnamese music through the sounds of the cello.

"I am incredibly honored and humbled to return to Vietnam with a beautiful show at the American Center Hanoi," said Wilson.

"I will be working with these accomplished artists to create a mesmerizing performance that combines my newly composed works for cello with traditional instruments such as the dan tranh and dan bau. The collaboration will transcend boundaries as we engage in a profound musical conversation, blending the enchanting sounds of these beautiful instruments with captivating electronic musical elements," said Wilson.

Bryan Charles Wilson is a boundary-pushing cellist and composer who captivates audiences worldwide. His cross-cultural performances in film, dance, puppetry, and animation have made a lasting impact, attracting attention from Good Day New York to Vietnamese National Television. During his residency in Vietnam, Bryan collaborated with esteemed musicians and performed on national television and in packed concert halls. He was selected for two highly sought-after FAMLAB music residencies, fusing indigenous Vietnamese melodies with contemporary elements.

In 2023, Bryan's highly anticipated album Tri Am pays homage to Vietnam's vibrant cultural heritage, infusing traditional music with his artistic vision. Bryan directs the Bryan Wilson Cello Studio, which trains students worldwide in classical, contemporary, and improvisational techniques. His influential books on string pedagogy expand learning horizons and inspire aspiring musicians worldwide.
