Ba Dinh District awards 3-star certification to OCOP products

Handcrafted with the knowledge and skills passed down through generations of artisans, these products are an illustration of Hanoi's culture.

Ten green rice products from Ba Dinh District have been awarded a 3-star rating under the One Commune - One Product (OCOP) program, bringing the total number of OCOP-certified products in the district to 26.

The certified products come from four family-run businesses: Nguyen Huong Green Rice Cake, Ngoc Ninh Green Rice Cake, Nguyen Ninh Green Rice Cake and Phuc Duc Old Quarter Green Rice. All these shops are on Hang Than Street, Nguyen Trung Truc Ward. The Hanoi People's Committee recognised rice cake making as a traditional craft in June 2024.

These green rice products, ranging from traditional items such as green rice cakes, fried green rice and xu xe (husband and wife) cakes to newly developed products such as green rice mochi, are well received by Hanoi residents and tourists. Handcrafted with the knowledge and skills passed down through generations of artisans, these products are an illustration of Hanoi's culture.

Participation in the OCOP program has enabled local family businesses to increase their production capacity and showcase distinctive cultural values through their products. This initiative not only offers residents and tourists exquisite traditional Hanoi gifts, but also provides a destination to experience the "Land of a Hundred Crafts."

Co Nhu Dung, Chairman of the Ba Dinh District People's Committee, praised the family-run businesses for preserving traditional elements in their products.

He also commended them for creating new products out of traditional materials to meet the changing tastes of locals and tourists.

Traditional craft products currently have relatively stable sales in the domestic market, he told a meeting on product recognition this week.

District authorities have organized several food safety training programs for local family businesses, assisted local brands with product design and marketing, and helped them participate in the OCOP rating programs, he said.
