Hanoi Times – on November 30, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Cong Khanh, Deputy Chairman of the Vietnam Pediatrics Association, stated that Vietnam can now forecast the IQ (intelligence quotient) of children by using the Fagan test on children aged 6-24 months.
According to Prof. Khanh, in order to assess the mental acuity of a child, doctors consider specific physical developments, language and actions of the child. However, this can only be done withchildren at least two years old.
The Fagan test allows doctors to give assessments about the development of children’s consciousness by considering the power of vision, which relates to a child’s adult capability. Early testing can help discover problems in children’s consciousness early enough to allow timely intervention.
Six hospitals in Vietnam, including the Central Pediatrics Hospital, Bach Mai, Da Nang General Hospital, Children’s Hospital No 1 and No2 in HCM City, and Nancy Hospital have received Fagan test sets.
The Fagan test has been used widely in the US and many other countries. However, this is its debut in Vietnam.
