In the second volume of his memoirs, Lee Kuan Yew relates how through sound policies Singapore achieved the ninth highest per capita income in the world by the 1990s. Speaking at the launch of the Vietnamese language version of Mr Lee Kuan Yew’s book, Parliamentary Secretary (Culture, Community and Youth) Baey Yam Keng honoured to be here today. Mr Lee Kuan Yew had first visited Vietnam in 1992. From then on, he developed a keen interest in Vietnam, as well as close friendships with many Vietnamese leaders. Mr Lee Kuan Yew had laid the foundation on which our excellent bilateral relations rest upon today.
