"Bringing Tet Home" program offers students and workers free bus ride home

The program annually provides students and workers with cash support, free bus tickets and community activities to ensure a warm Tet (Lunar New Year).

THE HANOI TIMES — The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union has launched the "Bringing Tet Home" program for 2026 to provide over 4,230 free bus tickets to students, young workers and disadvantaged laborers.

The program will also present gifts to them for their celebrations in hometowns.

Bus services are scheduled to depart between February 5 and February 11, 2026, corresponding to the 18th to the 24th of the last month of the lunar calendar.

Priority for selection will be given to applicants who can provide certification confirming their family’s status as poor or near-poor households, issued by local authorities (photocopies or digital images accepted).

Priority will also be given to vulnerable cases, including families that have been severely affected by natural disasters and floods over the past year.

Applications will be accepted between January 2 and 12, 2026. Results will be announced on January 8 and 15, 2026.

Students, young workers and laborers can register online via the website mangtetvenha.doanthanhnien.vn or submit their applications in person at the designated locations, or contact Youth Union offices at the wards and communes for guidance and assistance with registration information.

The Lunar New Year is Vietnam’s most important traditional holiday, marked by family reunions, cultural activities and travel nationwide.

This year, Vietnamese people will enjoy a nine-day holiday from February 14 to February 22, 2026 in celebration of traditional Tet.
