British Ambassador: "Vietnam and United Kingdom relation is at the best level ever"

British Ambassador to Vietnam put it at the 3th Congress of the Vietnam – UK Friendship Association of Hanoi on Sep 16.

On September 16, the Vietnam – UK Friendship Association of Hanoi held the 3th congress for the period of 2017-2022.
At the congress, representatives were briefed on the performance report of the Vietnam – UK Friendship Association of Hanoi session II for the period of 2011-2017 and the guidelines for session III for the period of 2017-2022.

Since being established, through 2 tenures of operation, especially the period of 2011 – 2017 witnessing complex foreign and national affairs, the association has put much effort to promote the Vietnam-UK tie via variety of frienship activities.
During the period of 2017 – 2022, the association would continue to hold friendship activities to mark British National Day in Hanoi; the anniversary of 45 years of Vietnam-UK diplomatic day in 2018; collaborate with central Viet Nam – UK Friendship Association, UK's Embassy in Vietnam, British Council to held cultural activities, education exhibitions, meetings of Alumni…
Focusing on education and training promotion, the Vietnam-UK Friendship Association of Hanoi often organizes related activities for its chapters such as English Olympic contest, art performance in English, English clubs. The association also cooperates with Lattitute organization, receives British volunteers of teaching English to Vietnamese people and some British students coming to Hanoi, Vietnam.

At the congress, British Ambassador to Vietnam – Giles Lever affirmed, since the level up of Vietnam – UK relation to strategic partnership in 2010, the bilateral tie achieved numerous milestones via diversifying cooperation in trade-economy, national defense, security, especially in the fight against wildlife crime and education-training.
Highlighting the typical examples in Vietnam-UK cooperation activities, the British Ambassador said: “Vietnam and United Kingdom relation is at the best level ever” and expressed high hope that, people-to-people diplomatic organs such as Vietnam-UK Friendship Association of Hanoi would continue to devote in sustaining and enhancing the tie.
The congress witnessed Executive Committee being selected for the period of 2017-2022 with 35 members. Mr Pham Vinh Quang – Director of Foreign Culture and UNESCO's Department (Vietnam's Ministry of Foreign Affairs),  former Head of Hanoi’s Foreign Affair Department,  was chosen as President of Vietnam – UK Friendship Association in the new tenure.
Speaking at the meeting, Permanent Vice President of Hanoi's Union of Frienship Organization (HAUFO) – Can Viet Anh highly appreciated significant activities of the association during the past time as well as its effort to diversify activities in untold areas such as economy, trade, culture, education, science… He also backed the operation guidelines proposed for the next tenure, which could contribute significantly to upcoming diplomatic achievement in enhancing Vietnam and UK friendship.  Congratulating the new Executive Committee, Viet Anh hopes that they would develop achievement, contributing to enhance People-to-people foreign relations between Hanoi and other cities in the world in line with motto: “proactive, flexible, creative and effective”.
