BRT route will be put into operation on time

It was confirmed by Chairman of Hanoi People`s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung at the conference taking place in the morning of December 26.

Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Duc Chung said that though there are still many ideas surrounding the deployment of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) route No. 01 linking Kim Ma and Yen Nghia bus terminals, Hanoi City still affirmed the determination that BRT will be put into operation on time of January 1, 2017.

Concerning traffic organization problems when BRT route No.01 is put into use, Director of Hanoi Department of Transportation, Vu Van Vien said that the City will give priority to developing maximum public passenger transport, the immediate priority is BRT in accordance with the highest targets set out the implementation of the project.

Mr. Vien gives more information that the Department has completed all the plans for traffic organization with dedicated lanes for BRT operation, it means to be deliberately encroached lanes and handled according to regulations. On BRT lane, there has been also equipped with the traffic surveillance cameras, functional forces will conduct penalties for any violations.

However, Mr. Vien also said that during rush-hours, if there is the risk of congestion on the BRT routes passing through, the traffic control will be based on the fact to have appropriate regulation, to ease the traffic jams in fastest way.

City leaders and Hanoi Department of Transportation expressed the wish to receive active support from the people and create conditions for developing maximum public passenger transport, ensuring ease traffic congestion in a sustainable and thorough way.
