The festival aims to preserve the UNESCO-recognized cultural heritage item.
The National Ca Tru festival 2014 is expected to draw the participation of 26 clubs from 12 provinces and cities nationwide from August 26th to 29th.
During the event, young artists will dominate the festival this year, instead of the elders signaling a renaissance of the time-honoured art.
Ca Tru, known as “hat a dao” or “hat noi”, originally appeared in the early 11th century and developed in the 15th century.
Ca Tru singing originated from folk music and traditional dance performances. The folk art was known all over the world through the voice of the artisan Quach Thi Ho (1909 - 2001).
