A ceremony to honor Vi-Giam folk singing of Nghe An and Ha Tinh province will be held in Vinh city, Nghe An province on the evening of January 31.
The same day, the Nghe An provincial Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism held a meeting with people who have greatly contributed to the preservation and compilation of Vi-Giam folk singing dossier. The honorees included researchers, managers, artisans, and Vi-Giam folk singing clubs.
Vietnam’s Nghe Tinh Vi-Giam folk singing was officially recognized by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity at the 9th session of its Inter-governmental Committee for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Paris last November.
