Channel News Asia names Da Nang among five must-visit regional destinations
Channel News Asia has announced its list of five under-the-radar destinations in the region where travelers can visit for an adventure without stressing out.
Da Nang has been ranked third among the top five under-the-radar destinations in the region where you can fly to for an adventure without stressing out, according to a list released by Channel News Asia, a Singaporean English language Asian cable television news agency.
“When you think of Vietnam, you think of either Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City. But somewhere in the middle, literally, sits this city from where you can head off to explore two UNESCO World Heritage Sites: The picturesque old town of Hoi An and the Hindu temples of My Son,” Channel News Asia wrote.
Channel News Asia advises travelers that nearer Da Nang are the famous Marble Mountains (Ngu Hanh Son), which have caves, tunnels and Buddhist shrines galore for the intrepid explore to discover. If you’re up for it, you can even climb to the summit for some amazing views.
Speaking of amazing views, one of Da Nang’s most recent hot destinations is tailor-made for Instagram: The Golden Bridge at Ba Na Hills, a hige pedestrian bridge that’s seemingly held but some gigantic hands. the TIME magazine recently cited it as one of the “World’s Greatest Places” to check out.
Go on a Safari in Colombo (Sri Lanka) tops the list, followed by swim in a volcanic lake in Medan (Indonesia), climb a mountain in Da Nang (Vietnam), go glamping in Visakhapatnam (India), visit an island of silk-weavers in Phnom Penh (Cambodia).
Earlier, Da Nang has been ranked 20th among 23 underrated travel destinations to visit before everyone else does, according to a list released by Vogue Australia, a fashion and lifestyle magazine.

Da Nang city welcomed more than 3.2 million visitors in the first five months of 2018, a year-on-year rise of 30.4%, according to the Da Nang Department of Tourism.
The number of foreign visitors arriving in the city in the first five months of 2018 was estimated at 1.3 million. The total income from tourism was estimated at more than VND11.1 trillion (US$488 million), up 53.6% against the same period of last year.
