The Swedish Embassy in Vietnam and Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on August 20 launched a national photo contest themed “Swedish Innovations through Vietnamese lenses”.
In her launching speech, Ms. Camilla Mellander, Swedish Ambassador to Vietnam, said the photo contest is an interesting and fun way to commemorate the 45th anniversary of Sweden – Vietnam diplomatic relations in 2014. It also further promotes mutual understanding, and vividly showcases how Swedish innovations and discoveries are applied and used in Vietnamese daily contexts.
Continuing until October 12, the constest opens for all Vietnamese without age limit. It encourages authentic, artirstic and creative photgraphs to capture one or several Swedish innovations in a Vietnamese context.
The board of jury members will review them and select oustanding photos in the last week of October. An announcing and award ceremony will be organised on November 10 in Ho Chi Minh city with the opening of the Innovative Sweden exhibition and other sideline events.
“Innovations are crucial for economic growth and prosperity not only for Sweden but for all countries. Therefore, we want to share our own innovative experiences with you and to contribute to fostering a culture of innovative spirit and creativity in Vietnam,” Ms. Camilla Mellander stressed.
It is also planned with the best 30 – 40 screened photos in Ho Chi Minh city and other big cities, thus giving an opportunity to the Vietnamese public to obtain a deeper understanding of Swedish innovations and discoveries that make our daily life easier and better.
The winner will be awarded with a round trip to Sweden, including visit to Fotografiska, the Museum of Photography in Stockholm as well as other places in Stockholm in order to experience Sweden, Swedish culture and Swedish innovations.
For the second place, a return flight ticket to Bangkok, Thailand will be awarded respectively. The Swedish Embassy will also publish photo entries in its Facebook for vote from its followers; the entry that will receive the highest number of vote by its online community will be offered a return flight ticket to Phuket, Thailand.
According to international indexes, Sweden stands as one of the most innovation nations in the world. Sweden and its companies, organisations and institutions continue to invest greatly in enhancing the potential for new innovations in order to stay at the forefront when it comes to both technology and an innovative mindset.
Many of these companies have become world-leading corporations based on innovations - mainly within industries, medicine, communications and trade. Numerous brands have well-established in Vietnam, including ABB, AstraZeneca, Atlas Copco, Electrolux, IKEA, SKF and Tetra Pak.
