Coronavirus infected cases in Vietnam rise to 21

The latest infected patient is a man who sat near the girl who spent time in Lombardy - an epicenter in Italy in mid-February.

Vietnam on Sunday confirmed one more person positive with the new coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) and this is the 21 infection so far.

 The latest inftected case is the fourth of Hanoi

The latest case is N.Q.T, 61, who sat near Nguyen Hong Nhung, the first case of Hanoi and the 17th infected person in Vietnam, on a flight from London to Hanoi on March 2. Thuan is Hanoi’s the fourth case.

N.Q.T is said to be vice chairman of the Central Theoretical Council of the Communist Party of Vietnam and a member of the Advisory Team of the Prime Minister.

People who were in close contact with N.Q.T have been quarantined on early Sunday morning [March 8].

After Hanoi’s first case was confirmed, local authorities have applied strict quarantine to anyone who was in close contact with the patient and people who made contact with the ones spending time with Nhung.

People on the flight with Nhung, including a large number of foreign visitors, are in quarantine in hotels or lodging facilities across Vietnam.

Over the past two days after Hanoi confirmed the first case, almost all news on media and social networks is about coronavirus. A number of people have shown their concerns about the spread of the epidemic while a number of others have shown trust in the government’s strong efforts to curb it.

Vietnam had reported no new case for 22 days from February 13 to March 6.

Currently, up to 23,228 people undergo isolation at home or in concentrated facilities and 101 others are in quarantine at hospitals.

As of March 8, the global caseload surpassed 106,000 with 3,600 deaths, including 503 outside China. South Korea becomes the largest outbreak hub outside China with 7,134 infected cases, followed by Italy with 5,883, and Iran with 5,823 cases.
