Hue, once an Imperial City and now a World Heritage Site, lies midway between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon). Yet less known to the outside world is that Hue is renowned for its cuisine.
Creators, an independent media and syndication company, has given some pieces of advice for travelers what to eat in Hue, the former capital city of Vietnam, and how to cross the road in there to enjoy Hue’s diverse beauty.
“The exotic scents mingling with the hum of incomprehensible conversations only increased our appetites. We soon faced a flotilla of aromatic small plates laden with the same mouth-watering combinations as those on adjoining tables — chicken legs simmered in soy sauce, the above-mentioned ravioli, marinated mushrooms, crisp egg rolls and their wrappings of lettuce leaves and unfamiliar stir-fried vegetables in delectable sauces,” Creators wrote.
Back at their hotel, a van and their guide awaited to whisk them off to the tree-shaded village of Thuy Bieu. The first part of their “being like a farmer at Eco Garden” began with a leisurely bicycle ride among orchards of pomelos and banana groves set against a green tapestry of rice paddies.
Their visit called for a change of costume, so they donned the outfits of a communist-era Vietnamese farmer, complete with brown baggy pants, loose shirt and bamboo hat, before trying their hands at milling rice.
The next morning their mini-cruise took them along the Perfume River to the Hue EcoLodge and dropped them off for a short walk around the 17th-century Thien Mu (Celestial Lady) pagoda, the city symbol.
In 2017, Hue Imperial Citadel (Dai Noi) in the central province of Thue Thien-Hue has been ranked second among top ten attractive destinations in Vietnam, according to a list released by TripAdvisor, the world famous travel website.
“Hue is highly appreciated by international tourists because Hue has the poetic Perfume River, many historical monuments, and special culture and cuisine, and Hue is the ancient capital of Vietnam with a world heritage system. Whenever coming to Hue, tourists are impressed by the beauty of Hue Citadel, royal tombs, Thanh Toan tile-roofed bridge,” TripAdvisor wrote.
