"Cultural Festival for Peace": Historic takeover of Hanoi

The celebration marks Hanoi's 70 years of development since the people's army took over the city from French colonialists to its today development.

Kicked off on October 6 at Hoan Kiem Lake, the "Cultural Festival for Peace" program celebrates the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the City (October 10, 1954 - 2024) and the 25th anniversary of the UNESCO's "City for Peace" designation for Hanoi.

A key highlight will be the reenactment of the historic moment on October 10, 1954, when the triumphant army marched into the capital amidst a sea of flags, flowers, and jubilation, marking the end of nine years of grueling resistance against a formidable enemy.

The Hanoi Times' reporters Duy Khanh, Thanh Hai, Pham Hung, and Lai Tan are honored to introduce the vivid celebration this morning.
