The Da Nang People`s Committee has just promulgated a decision on deploying tourism development projects in 2018 with the total cost of VND14,4 billion (US$633,600).
With a budget of US$633,600, Da Nang expects to focus on tourism development services like eco- and rural tourism, river ways as well as strengthen the management of accommodation and travelling. Da Nang also wishes to increase the promotion of tourism on mass media.
Besides, effective measures will be taken to promote the city’s participation into tourism fairs at home and abroad, and the reception for a large number of famtrip delegations from dometic and foreign travel and media agencies.
Notably, the city’s representative offices will be establish at 2 major foreign tourist markets, namely China and South Korea, whilst bilateral tourism cooperation programmes with other domestic and foreign localities will be accelerated in the coming months. Last, but not least, greater efforts will be made to develop human resources for the tourism sector, and help staff members from tourism service providers enhance their professional skills.
The total number of visitors to Da Nang in 2017 is estimated at 6.6 million, increasing by 19% compared to 2016. The total social income from tourism is estimated at VND19.4 trillion (US$853 million), an increase of 20.6%. The turnover from accommodation and travelling is estimated at VND6.6 trillion (US$294 million), increasing by 8.6% compared to 2016.
During Tet holiday (Lunar New Year 2018), Da Nang welcomed nearly 300,000 tourists, increase by 14% compared to 2017, of which 132,000 international visitors, increase by 27.6%, domestic customers reached nearly 165,000, increase by 5% compared to 2017, according to Da Nang Department of Tourism report.
Da Nang expect to receive 8 million visitors by 2020, including 2 million international guests and 6 million domestic visitors, the average of annual visitor growth rate in the period of 2016 - 2020 is 12.6%, Ho Ky Minh, Vice Chairman of Da Nang People’s Committee was quoted as saying.
