Deputy PM Minh hosted reception for new-accredited Korean Ambassador

On August 4, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh hosted a reception for newly-accredited Korean Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Vietnam Lee Hyuk on the occasion of his working term in Vietnam.

At the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh applauded and congratulated Lee Hyuk on being appointed Ambassador to Vietnam while the two countries prepare to celebrate 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2017 and expressed his belief that, with his experience, Ambassador Lee Hyuk will have a positive contribution to promote the strategic partnership between Vietnam and Korea to develop more comprehensively and substantively.

The host leader was convinced that the new Ambassador would make positive contribution to promoting the bilateral ties in a more comprehensive and practical manner. He expressed his pleasure to witness the fast developments in the strategic cooperative partnership in all fields. As one of Vietnam’s leading trade and partners, Mr. Minh hoped that the two sides would tap potential in investment, trade, local cooperation, labor.  

In return, Ambassador Lee Hyuk affirmed that the Korean Government regards Vietnam as the first partner in development cooperation and promises to give priority to the ODA recipient country in the areas of infrastructure construction and climate change response.

The Ambassador also vowed to do his utmost to cement and deepen the bilateral ties in all fields and call on Korean businesses to expand their footholds in Vietnam, thus narrowing down the trade gap and raising the two-way trade turnover to US$70 billion in the coming time.

Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh praised Korea as the leading partner in economic cooperation and trade of Vietnam. He hopes the two sides to cooperate closely and promote cooperation in the fields that the two countries have great potential for investment, especially in the context that the two sides have signed Vietnam-Korea free trade agreement (FTA), to create conditions for Vietnam exports to the Korean market.
