Diversifying Vietnam's information and image to international friends

On May 2, Preliminary Conference on External Information in the period of 2013-2015 and key tasks in the coming years has been organized by the Steering Committee of Hanoi`s External Information.

At the meeting, Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Information and Communications Nguyen Minh Khanh said that since 2014, Hanoi has applied strong propaganda to promote Vietnam's image on the external information channels such as: VTV4, VTC10, VOV5, 4 printing newspapers and e-newspaper for external information of Vietnam National Agency. Hanoi has focused on promoting information dissemination and introduction in Vietnamese and in 11 foreign languages to organize exhibitions displaying maps and documents "Hoang Sa, Truong Sa of Vietnam - The historical evidence"; produced documentary film "My Hanoi", etc.

Besides, the external information channel of Hanoitimes (http://hanoitimes.com.vn/) belonging to Economic & Urban Newspaper has regularly updated the country's performance, contributing to the promotion and introduction of innovative achievements of the Capital and the country. Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Information and Communications confirmed that the upgraded Hanoitimes chennel to believe the main channels for the city's external information channel, contributing to the realization of the scheme of enhancing investment, management and development of the city in the period of 2013 - 2020, creating a substantial improvement and efficiency in the City's external information and communication. In terms of setting the goals for the next year, representatives from the Department of Information and Communications emphasized that Hanoi will promote the development of radio - television, creating a relationship to closely work with the channels of ASEAN countries and Asia-Pacific region.

Attending the conference, Mr. Le Van Nghiem - Director of External Information Department (Ministry of Information and Communications), Hanoi is one of the cities implementing external information in a methodical and professional way. However, he strictly said that the Capital's external information needs to be more efficient and marked, especially to take advantage of important international events taking place in Hanoi to promote the image, such as the event of US president's visit to Vietnam at the end of May.

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Ngo Van Quy said that in recent years, the city's external information has been accelerated to promote the image of the Capital in various forms. He emphasized that in the coming time, the Vice Chairman said that it is neccessary to develop thematic images with key focus, to improve the quality of external information, for a new quality of information, to provide timely propaganda information in various forms for bringing the country's image to international friends.
