The event, held to mark the 78th anniversary of Vietnam’s War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27, 1947 – July 27, 2025), embodied the Vietnamese tradition of honoring those who sacrificed for national independence.

As part of the program, the Economic & Urban Newspaper and Gold Coast Holdings presented 100 gifts, each worth approximately VND1 million (US$40), to individuals and families recognized for their contributions to the revolution in the two communes.

Speaking at the event, Asc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Loi, Editor-in-Chief of Economic & Urban Newspaper, described this charity program as carrying “a profound humanitarian message.”

“It represents the shared responsibility of the press and the business community to support those who made sacrifices for the nation’s independence, particularly those facing difficult circumstances,” said Loi.

He noted that through this program, the newspaper seeks to express heartfelt gratitude to heroic martyrs and policy beneficiary families who played a vital role in Vietnam’s liberation and reunification.

“We aim to follow President Ho Chi Minh’s teaching: ‘War invalids, sick soldiers, and martyr families have made sacrifices for the country and the people. It is our duty to be grateful, care for them, and offer support,” he continued.

Loi also highlighted that alongside its core journalistic mission, Economic & Urban Newspaper has consistently engaged in charitable work. Its long-running “Gratitude in July” program, now in its 13th year, has delivered thousands of gifts to families in need across the country.
