Nguyen Minh Duc, the current editor-in-chief of the Economic & Urban Newspaper (Kinh te & Do thi), has been appointed as new editor-in-chief of the Hanoimoi Newspaper.

The Economic & Urban Newspaper has dailies, an e-newspaper in Vietnamese, and an English version of Hanoi Times (www.hanoitimes.vn).

At a meeting where the decisions were handed over, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee Nguyen Thi Tuyen expressed her appreciation for the efforts of Nguyen Minh Duc and Nguyen Thanh Loi. She emphasized that the personnel work in Hanoi in general, including those in the press sector, have strictly adhered to the regulations set by the central government and have adapted to the city's situation accordingly.

Tuyen also acknowledged the importance of the Hanoimoi Newspaper and the Economic & Urban Newspaper, which serve as key newspapers in the capital's press system, providing a platform for the Party Committee, government and people of the capital to express their opinions.

Therefore, the Standing Committee of the Hanoi Party Committee pays special attention to the staffing work of these newspapers, Tuyen said.

Tuyen also praised Nguyen Thanh Loi and the entire staff of Hanoimoi Newspaper for their dedication to overcoming challenges and solving internal problems. These include the development of the regulation on autonomy and internal expenditures, as well as the completion of procedures for the construction and repair of the Hanoimoi Newspaper headquarters.

As editor-in-chief of the latter since June 2014, Nguyen Minh Duc and his team have accomplished the challenging task of promoting the city's activities and raising the newspaper's position among leading press agencies.

The Standing Deputy Secretary suggested that Nguyen Minh Duc promptly stabilize the organizational structure of the Hanoimoi Newspaper, establish and enforce regulations and policies, improve staff welfare, promote internal solidarity, and gradually develop the newspaper. In doing so, Tuyen expected the newspaper's staff and employees to improve their professionalism and quality of work, and make the Hanoimoi Newspaper worthy of being a "home" for all its reporters.
