Film Screening “L’Outsider”

A film based on the true story of Jérôme Kerviel, the French trader convicted for a big-money fraud in 2008 will be screened on 17 Nov at L’Espace.

“The film attracts the audience by its painting of the trade world in one of the largest banks in the world – its mechanism, its hysteria, its stressful atmosphere – and the portrait of a man who got caught in its game. Moreover, the film mentions a critical topic that the French cinema, more often than not, hesitates to deal with.” – Direct Matin.
The film based on the true story of Jérôme Kerviel – from a bank teller to a star of the financial world and finally became a sacrifice for the bank system in the 2008 financial crisis.
After graduating with a Master degree in Finance, Jérôme Kerviel works for Société Générale in the Investment banking and Financing division at La Défense. He worked in the “middle office” as a accounting secretary in charge of orders by the prestigious traders who officiate in the legendary trading world, considered at the time the best in the world on financial derivatives. At work, Jérôme answers to Keller, his supervisor, who gives him advice on how to maximize the profits. Before long, he takes the lead and manages to make millions at Société Générale…
