Film screening to celebrate 2025 Reunification Day

The film week aims to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - 2025), a milestone in Vietnam’s history.

The Hanoi Times — The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has recently announced plans for a special film screening program in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City on the 50th anniversary of the Reunification.

The program honors the victory of the Vietnamese people in the struggle for national reunification and celebrates their indomitable spirit of resilience, sacrifice, and unity.

The screening program in Hanoi will take place on April 21-26 and will feature a selection of feature films and documentaries on different topics, including the revolutionary wars, the social and cultural transformations, and the struggle for independence.

The program will vividly portray the courage and determination of the Vietnamese people during this tumultuous chapter in their history. It also aims to foster a deeper understanding of Vietnam's rich heritage and the values of patriotism and national pride.

In Ho Chi Minh City , the film week will be launched in the second quarter of 2025, with a special opening on April 7. The screenings will feature landmark films that feature the dramatic changes in Vietnam's history, from the revolutionary wars to the post-war era, and the nation's remarkable transformation in terms of culture, economy, and society.

In addition to the film screenings, the event will feature a series of exchanges between filmmakers, film scholars, and historical witnesses to provide young audiences with a deeper understanding of this challenging period in Vietnamese history. These discussions will serve as a poignant reminder for today's youth of the sacrifices and their responsibility to preserve the nation's rich cultural heritage and traditions.

As part of the event, a major exhibition entitled "Echoes of the Great Victory of the Spring of 1975 in Cinema" will open on April 5 at September 29 Park in Ho Chi Minh City. The exhibition will feature 300 photos that provide a visual record of the nation's struggle and triumph.

April 30, or Vietnam's Reunification Day, marks the liberation of the South and the beginning of a new chapter in the nation's history.
