Firefighting and rescue skills competition in Hanoi

A firefighting and rescue skills competition for households was organized in Ba Dinh District, offering locals basic steps when a fire occurs, and technical skills to escape.

The competition aligns with Hanoi City's Plan No. 82 on organizing the Inter-family Firefighting and Safety Team Skills Competition. 

 

This is a practical activity to enhance the knowledge, ability, and skills of members of the "Inter-family Firefighting Safety Team" in dealing with fire and explosion situations, rescuing people, and saving property and to make this activity more practical and regular. It also aimed to promote the effectiveness of handling fire and explosion incidents in residential areas, minimising fire damage, protecting people's property and lives, and contributing to maintaining political security, order, and social safety.

 

Deputy Chairman of Ba Dinh District People's Committee Nguyen Trung Dung said that through the competition, the inter-family teams would have the opportunity to exchange and share experiences and knowledge on fire prevention, firefighting, and rescue work, which is expected to contribute to improving the effectiveness of prevention, fire safety and the use of on-site firefighting equipment in specific situations for the members of the inter-family team. At the same time, it also created a lively atmosphere of emulation in the firefighting participation.

 

The competition had 112 contestants from 14 teams representing the "Inter-family Firefighting Safety Teams" in the district who competed in two tests: the theoretical test on fire prevention, firefighting, and rescue, and the practical test on handling fire, rescue, and emergencies. A good understanding of the theory would greatly support communication work and help to ensure people's safety in the future, Dung told The Hanoi Times.

 

In the firefighting and rescue practical test, the contestants exercised their firefighting, rescue and property evacuation skills, and handled fire and explosion situations typical of combined residential and business premises.

 

At the end of the competition, the "Inter-family Firefighting Safety Team" from Kim Ma ward won the first prize in the competition. They will also represent the Ba Dinh District to participate in the city-level competition.
