The World Culture Day, in its first edition, is a significant event that celebrates cultural values, fosters international exchange and cooperation, and promotes the image of Hanoi and Vietnam globally.

THE HANOI TIMES  Hanoi's historic and cultural relic Thang Long Imperial Citadel in Ba Dinh Ward will host the first-ever World Culture Day from October 3 to October 5.

The activities will highlight the thousand-year-old culture of Hanoi, and the image of an open, friendly and culturally diverse Vietnam that respects differences.

Through the World Culture Day, both local and international audiences will enjoy the demonstration of the rich cultural heritage brought by Vietnam and other countries.

According to Permanent Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Hai Binh, the event is designed to nurture creativity, foster cultural diversity, and reaffirm Hanoi’s role as a UNESCO Creative City and City for Peace.

Hanoi is home to numerous diplomatic missions, international organizations and foreign cultural centers. It has become a welcoming and familiar home for international partners and friends.

The presence and participation of these entities at the event will be the proof of their affection and close ties with Hanoi.

The participation of embassies, cultural centers and international organizations will enrich the cultural mosaic and display their solidarity with Vietnam in promoting the role of culture in sustainable development, building a prosperous and cohesive future.

Held in an open space that meets requirements for scale, infrastructure, security and safety, the World Culture Day will ensure both quality and inclusiveness.

The inaugural ceremony will take place at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel while larger venues such as Thong Nhat Park in Hai Ba Trung Ward and the Vietnam Exposition Center in Dong Anh Commune may be considered for future editions as the event expands.

In particular, developing the World Culture Day in Hanoi into a regular event associated with a meaningful time of the year, as the city celebrates its 71st Liberation Day on October 10, will further position Hanoi as a center of international cultural exchange.

The event will help Hanoi build its international cultural brand, promote Vietnamese culture and arts to the world and draw international cultural values and quintessence into the country.

In addition, organizing this festival is also a way to encourage creativity and long-term commitment of participating units, thereby expanding the people's foreign affairs network.

The World Culture Day will also be a space for direct contact between the Vietnamese public and international friends, and contribute to building the image of an open, friendly, culturally diverse and respectful Vietnam.

The spaces of cuisine, handicraft products and tourism promotion will support businesses and develop the creative economy for the capital.

The World Culture Day is co-organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Hanoi People’s Committee.
