The event brought together diplomats, artists, and residents to enjoy traditional costume showcases, culinary exchanges, a performance of the ao dai collection titled “Colors of Heritage” by Sac Viet, and music and dance inspired by Southeast Asia cultures.
Chairman of the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations Nguyen Ngoc Ky said that the program is an opportunity to connect international friends in Vietnam with the people of Hanoi.
“The festival reflects Hanoi’s vision of building a city that is civilized, rich in heritage, and modern, and reinforces Vietnam’s commitment to regional solidarity,” he said.
Ky added that the event is part of a series marking Vietnam’s big milestones, including the 80th National Day and 30 years of becoming an ASEAN member state.
“Friendly cooperation and regional connectivity within ASEAN remain among Vietnam’s top foreign policy priorities,” Ky noted.
Malaysian Ambassador to Vietnam Dato’ Tan Yang Thai touched on the broader significance of the festival.
He described it as “a gathering of friends from ASEAN, from Vietnam, and from the international community, bonded through the spirit of people-to-people diplomacy.”
With its theme “ASEAN Colors,” the event showcased the region’s essence that is diverse yet harmonious, distinct yet united, together creating a vibrant cultural mosaic that reflects ASEAN’s shared destiny, he added.
“We are here in Hanoi not only to admire the beauty and diversity of cultures, but also to reflect on how culture connects us as neighbors, partners, and members of one ASEAN family,” the ambassador said.
