U23 Vietnam receives national honors for ASEAN Cub Championship

THE HANOI TIMES — The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on August 1 held a ceremony to commend and reward the U23 Vietnam national team following their victory at the 2025 ASEAN Cub Championship held in Indonesia.
U23 Vietnam defeated U23 Indonesia 1-0 in the final at the host’s stadium. The team’s disciplined performance and tactical maturity throughout the tournament solidified their position as one of Southeast Asia’s top football powers.

Previously, the ministry had issued a decision to award certificates of merit to five individuals who made significant contributions in supporting the team. The recipients include team leader Tran Anh Tu, interpreter Do Anh Van, doctor Nguyen Truong An, and medical staff Vu Anh Dung and Luu Quang Loi. Their behind-the-scenes efforts were recognized as key factors in the team’s successful campaign.
According to the plan, U23 Vietnam will regroup at the end of August to prepare for the 2026 AFC U23 Asian Cup qualifiers, scheduled for early September. This qualifying round is crucial, as it determines a spot in the final tournament, a competition of strategic importance for gaining international experience, building competitive resilience, and nurturing future talent for the national team.
With strong momentum, solid preparation, and a squad in top form, U23 Vietnam is set to begin a promising journey toward greater continental challenges.
