Four ambassadors send new year wishes to Vietnam in calligraphy

For the first time, Ambassadors of New Zealand, Norway, Canada, and Switzerland visited the Temple of Literature and chose calligraphies as their wishes to Vietnamese.

In the spirit of Tet, the Ambassadors of New Zealand, Norway, Canada, and Switzerland visited the Temple of Literature and spoke of their wishes for all Vietnamese people, and Vietnamese girls and women in particular, for the year ahead.
The Embassies of New Zealand, Norway, Canada, and Switzerland - the Group of Four (G4) - are committed partners of Vietnam and work with Vietnam on the improvement of human rights, including gender equality. In the video celebrating New Year, four ambassadors dignified the female’s role in preserving family's happiness as well as contributing to develop economic.
New Zealand Ambassador Wendy Matthews said: “Just recently, we congratulated our Prime Minister, The Right Honourable Jacinda Ardern, on her pregnancy. I am very proud to have such a prominent role model demonstrating the combination of leadership and family roles.
“Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern is New Zealand’s third female Prime Minister, and New Zealand’s current Governor-General, Dame Patsy Reddy, is our third female Governor- General. I look forward to even more females emerging in leadership roles in the Year of the Dog”, enthused Wendy.
The ambassadors also chose traditional calligraphies to reinforce their message. While Wendy chose “Trí” (Knowledge/Wisdom)”, her Canadian peer Ping Kitnikone picked “Bình” (Peace). Otherwise, Swiss Ambassador Beatrice Maser Mallor wished Vietnam a “Thịnh vượng” (Prospect) year and Norwegian Ambassador Siren Gjerme Eriksen adored the word “Mạnh mẽ” (Strong).
“My calligraphy for Vietnam is Trí (“knowledge/wisdom”). I hope that in the Year of the Dog, all of our countries have the wisdom to nurture, encourage, educate, and support our women and girls to realize their full potential,” noted Wendy.
This is the first time all G4 Ambassadors are female.
