The northern coastal city of Ha Long launched a press contest on local tourism as part of activities to promote National Tourism Year – Ha Long – Quang Ninh 2018.

Submissions must be articles published on printed or online newspapers between January 1 and October 31, 2018, focusing on real-life events and people that reflect the charm of local tourism.
The northern province of Quang Ninh, home to the World Heritage site of Ha Long Bay, is host of National Tourism Year 2018 themed “Ha Long-Heritage, Wonder, Friendly Destination”. It is set to host at least 51 cultural, sports and tourism events throughout the year. Highlights include the opening ceremony and Carnaval Ha Long 2018 in Ha Long city, which is scheduled for April 28.
In the period, the tourism sector well organised festivals, resulting in an increase in the number of visitors to relic sites and tourist attractions. Drastic measures were taken to detect and solve any violations in holding and managing festivals and celebrations.
Quang Ninh province also organised regular inspections at key tourist sites such as Tuan Chau international cruise port, Dai Duong park and Quang Ninh museum. A hotline is also available around the clock to timely receive tourists’ complaints.
Quang Ninh province welcomed 4.6 million tourists in the first quarter of 2018, up 21% against the same period last year, including 1.3 million foreigners, up 8%. It earned more than VND7.3 trillion (US$320.4 million) from tourism, a year-on-year rise of 24%, according to Quang Ninh Department of Tourism.
The province hopes to welcome 12 million visitors this year, including five million foreigners, and earn VND22 trillion (US$968 million).
