Hanoi: 359 air monitoring sites to be set by 2020

To minimize air pollution affecting negatively to people’s health, Hanoi has implemented various activities for appropriate treatment in the area.



 
Accordingly, Hanoi People’s Committee asked new project owners to build treatment systems of waste water, gas in sync with production technology; complete procedures to recognize environmental treatment works meeting environmental standards before putting them into operation so as to strengthen the control of pollution in industrial production.

In addition, the capital city has also strengthened communication to encourage facilities to apply environmentally-friendly technology; enhanced inspection, handling of violation cases relating to environmental protection, positively contributing to minimizing environmental pollution.

Over the past time, Hanoi has paid attention to environmental monitoring in general and environmental monitoring for air in particular; ensuring enough funds to complete air monitoring systems in the area; approving the planning on fixed network of air monitoring by 2020 to strengthen controlling of air pollution; synchronously establishing environmental monitoring systems for air and timely giving measures to minimize air pollution, etc.

By the end of 2020, the Capital city will have 359 air monitoring sites to ensure collection and provision of key information, data for environmental protection and economic development.

To continue enhancing supervision, warning and offering solutions to improve the quality of air environment, the Municipal People’s Committee assigned the Department of Natural Resources and Environment to build projects to improve capacity of environmental monitoring in the capital city; review, evaluate environmental monitoring systems for air to complete them in the area; identify 20 revenues to install fixed stations of environmental monitoring.
