Chairwoman of the Hanoi People's Committee Vu Thu Ha has approved a plan to review the five-year implementation of Decision No. 1893/QD-TTg issued by the Prime Minister on December 25, 2019, which focuses on integrating traditional and modern medicine.

The plan responds to the growing need for a healthcare system that draws on Vietnam's rich heritage of traditional medicine while ensuring scientific advances in treatment. By promoting a holistic approach, the city aims to improve the effectiveness of healthcare, provide more patient-centered options, and increase the credibility of traditional medicine in medical practice.
The review will assess progress, identify shortfalls, and propose strategic improvements to expand the role of traditional medicine in disease prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation.
A conference will be held in March 2025, featuring reports from leading specialists in traditional medicine, acupuncture associations, and healthcare institutions, focusing on best practices, policy gaps, and future directions.
The review will provide critical input for recommendations to the Prime Minister to bolster traditional medicine nationwide.
The Hanoi Department of Health is tasked with collecting data, coordinating with relevant agencies, and submitting a comprehensive report to the Ministry of Health by February 28, 2025. Authorities stress that the initiative is not only about preserving tradition, but also about modernizing and integrating traditional medicine into a more effective, accessible, and sustainable healthcare system.
