Hanoi and Moscow partner on anti-corruption drive

Anti-corruption is among the cooperation topics between Hanoi and Moscow, which was the focus of a meeting between the two cities’ leaders recently.
A delegation led by Alexander Anikin, Deputy Head of the Anti-Corruption Department of the Russian President is visiting Hanoi and met with Standing Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Van Suu yesterday.
At the meeting, both sides discussed on personnel and developing joint works in anti-corruption. The move is supposed to reinforce Vietnam – Russia ties.
On behalf of the Hanoi people and government, Suu said 2019 marked a milestones in the relationship between Russia and Vietnam, which is developing in numerous fields and is heading the 70th commemoration of the bilateral relations in 2020.
Suu also briefed on Hanoi socio-economic achievements. The city made efforts to improve traffic infrastructure and management, he stressed. Besides, Hanoi also takes the anti-corruption as one of its major priorities.
The city annually conducts investigations in over 400 cases. The anti-corruption work has been enhanced, which has contributed largely to the city’s development, Suu said.
On the occasion, the Hanoi official also expressed his hope that Hanoi and Moscow would strengthen the cooperation and experience exchanges in many areas in the future, including anti-corruption.
For his part, Anikin thanked the Hanoi leader’s warm welcome and stressed Russia’s will in dealing with corruption.
Echoing Suu’s view, Anikin expected that the two countries will boost bilateral cooperation and exchange experiences in the fight against corruption.
He believed the sound tradition relation between Vietnam and Russia would serve as background for the above-mentioned co-operation activities between Hanoi and Moscow.
