THE HANOI TIMES — Hanoi is gearing up for a vibrant 2026 Countdown at Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square and throughout Hoan Kiem Lake pedestrian area, where crowds will gather in a sea of lights, music and the pulse of the year’s final moments.

Under the plan signed by Vu Thu Ha, Vice Chairwoman of the Hanoi People’s Committee, the Old Quarter will turn into a festive stage from 7 PM to midnight on December 31, bringing a night of energy and emotion to the heart of the capital.

The Countdown party is considered the greatest “music feast” of the year, featuring superb performances and a joyful festive atmosphere for all locals and visitors to welcome the new year in true Hanoi style.

Themed “Countdown 2026 - Opening Real Connections,” the program highlights the capital city’s spirit of innovation and community, aiming to showcase Hanoi as a modern, culturally rich and welcoming destination.

Fully funded by social contributions, the event reflects strong public support and is expected to further enhance the appeal of the Hoan Kiem pedestrian streets, a cherished symbol of Hanoi.

The municipal Department of Culture and Sports will work closely with Song Trang Media JSC (ST Group) to hold the festivities with media coordination to better serve the public and highlight Hanoi’s global image.

Meanwhile, the Hanoi Department of Tourism will collaborate with local businesses to promote Countdown 2026 to tourists, ensuring high-quality tourism services in accommodation, dining, shopping and entertainment.

The authorities of Hoan Kiem Commune are tasked with implementing detailed plans to maintain security, traffic flow, fire safety, health care and urban beautification before, during and after the event to ensure a memorable New Year celebration for all.
