Hanoi artists' Spring exhibition captivates public

Fifty-eight paintings that capture the essence of spring are currently on display in downtown Hanoi, capturing the hearts of visitors.

Titled "Khai Xuan" or "Early Spring," the exhibition features the work of 29 artists representing three generations. From the seasoned wisdom of 83-year-old artist Ngo Quang Nam to the youthful vitality of 35-year-old artist Vu Thuy Mai, the exhibition showcases the talents of these Hanoi-based artists.   

According to the event's organizing committee, the exhibition offers the public a rich and immersive experience of contemporary Vietnamese fine arts, presenting a dynamic collection of works brimming with creative energy and emotional depth.

Among the many highlights, two masterpieces by artist Tong Ngoc, "Doan Tuong Tu" or "Lovesick Moment" (70x70cm) and "Ke Mong Mo" or "The Dreamer" (80x80cm), have left a deep impression on visitors. Painted in watercolor on silk with shimmering gold accents, "Lovesick Moment" celebrates the delicate, ethereal beauty of a Vietnamese woman dressed in the traditional silk ao dai. The pieces evoke a deep sense of romance, capturing the gentle allure of spring and the timeless beauty of Vietnamese women.

Le Anh Van, former Rector of the Vietnam University of Fine Arts, said the artworks on display at the exhibition made him feel as if the spirit of spring had transcended time and space. "The artists pour their hearts and emotions into every stroke, every shade, and every composition. Their celebration of spring resonates deeply, as if the very essence of the season is expressed through their art," he mused.

Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism Ta Quang Dong remarked that the exhibition’s simple yet profound expressions of emotion- captured through silk, Do paper, lacquer, oil paints, bronze, and other materials- invite viewers into a world of boundless aesthetic beauty.

“This exhibition is a canvas of life’s vibrant colors, radiating positive energy that fills the air with hope and a renewed faith in a bright future for the country,” he said.

The exhibition is open to the public until February 20 at the exhibition hall at 29 Hang Bai, Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi, promising to be a celebration of Spring, the boundless creativity and spirit among Vietnamese people for the Lunar New Year ahead.
